Principal's Message

Welcome To A.T. Dovalina Elementary School!

Staff, parents, students and friends of Dovalina:

We are extremely proud of all the hard work that has gone into ensuring this school year was a success. Our staff and students work tirelessly to become competitive across our school district. Our year kicked off with a literacy initiative that would reinforce reading skills in the classroom as well as in the library. This literacy initiative proved to be successful as 100% of our students were able to meet our district’s accelerated reader (AR) goal. Kudos to our librarian, Mrs. B. Tijerina, for achieving this goal and being ranked amongst the top librarians in the district.

We recognize the hard work of Mrs. D. Cassiano for spearheading our campus parental volunteer program. Mrs. Cassiano was instrumental in bringing parenting classes to our community as well as providing volunteering opportunities on campus. Many of our parents were able to participate in sports, cheerleading, choir, parades, and other campus activities. We thank our numerous parent volunteers for always providing us with their time and assistance. One of our own parent volunteers, Mrs. R. Reyna, was recognized as the district’s top parent volunteer with the most hours volunteered. Congrats, Mrs. Reyna!

A special thanks to Mrs. Robledo, Mrs. Banda, Mrs. S. Lopez, Ms. A. Cassiano, Ms. Vasquez, all the Coaches, Ms. Pruneda, Ms. Tressler, Ms. M. Rodriguez, Mrs. Rangel & Mrs. Patlan, as well as all our wonderful custodians and para-professionals who were essential in ensuring the everyday functions of Dovalina were suited for our students.

All our grade level teams and teachers deserve recognition for ensuring their students were academically successful. Pk3 and Pk4 teachers successfully met and exceeded our district and campus end of year academic goal of 90%. Our fifth graders made tremendous gains in their Reading/Math STAAR ensuring their progression to middle school. As more student academic data is received more success stories will be shared with you. For now we continue to prepare our students for the next school year by holding summer camps. I urge to send your children to school so that we can continue to prepare them.
